up//root announces 2022 community award

The editors are proud to announce the 2022 up//root community award.

As a publication, it’s important for us to invite, nurture, and sustain conversations about care, knowledge production, community building, and disruption among BIPOC. We always want to show up for our community, and continue to be a space for us.

The up//root 2022 community award is a $500 honorarium and also comes with the opportunity for applicants to publish their responses on uproot.space (though not required).

We are specifically supporting candidates who are one of the following:

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Non-MLIS degree holding library worker 

  • Current or incoming MLIS student

  • Unemployed or underemployed library workers (both MLIS or non-MLIS degree holding)

  • Bonus: Has an interest in LIS publishing, writing, editing and/or knowledge production.
